I don’t know when exactly this happened but Mulberry St in Little Italy between Canal St and Broome St is closed off to traffic. It makes sense since the sheer amount of foot traffic that street generates always made it difficult to walk through. With the closing off of the street to vehicles, the sidewalks are now an extension of the excellent Italian restaurants while pedestrians have the road to walk on. It’s a win-win situation - unless you’re a driver, that is.
