After sitting on a magic number of 1 for three nights, the Mets finally clinched the National League East on Monday night!

From the moment the Mets lost to the Pirates on Sunday up to game time, ten thousand tickets were sold to first potential division-clinching game at home.

Steve Trachsel throws the first pitch and it’s - surprise, surprise - a strike!

Shawn Green catches the first out but not before his typical dropping of the cap.

The MVP of the night, Jose Valentin, hitting his second home run of the game.

After 7.1 innings of solid shutout ball, Willie comes to the mound to take Trachsel out of the game. The fans, who haven’t always been behind Trachs - with good reason too - give him a standing ovation for his amazin’ night’s effort.

The fun pictures come in a later post:)
