This past weekend was the 1st Manhattan Cask Ale Festival at Chelsea Brewing Company. Like other cask festivals in NYC, this was organized by cask expert Alex Hall. Justin came down from Boston on Friday and we went to check it out.

A list of beers we tried and information regarding each beer.
- Three Floyds Brian Boru (5.9%). Style: Irish Red Ale. From Munster, Indiana.
A rare appearance in New York for Three Floyds, this amber, complex brew has notes of fruit and caramel. - Jolly Pumpkin E.S. Bam (4.8%). Style: Saison. From Dexter, Michigan.
A lightly-hopped, cloudy copper colored ‘farmhouse ale’ from one of America’s most eccentric breweries. - Captain Lawrence Smoke From The Oak [Bourbon] (6.4%). Style: Robust Porter/Wood-Aged Beer. From Pleasantville, New York.
Smoked Porter aged in wooden bourbon barrels makes for a rich, dark, delicious imbibing experience. One of a series of porters from Captain Lawrence which are aged in different barrels. - The Livery Hoppy Chick (5.7%). Style: English IPA. From Benton Harbor, Michigan.
English Maris Otter pale malt, English Crystal malt, and a blend of English and North American hops create this amber, hoppy IPA with just the right balance.
