Mets Opening Day 2008, Part 1

On April 8, 2008, the Mets had their home opener at Shea Stadium for the 45th and final time.

Building the new stadium necessitated the demolition of the ramp coming from the subway station. The new, temporary staircase is actually an improvement over the ramp as it doesn’t have the entryway that constricted the flow of passengers.

Recently inducted governor David Paterson talks to the media.

After talking with SNY’s studio crew, Darryl Strawberry makes his way into Shea.
