About

Who?

I am Gary Wong - yes, my site URL is terribly unoriginal but it sure as hell makes it easy to remember. Unless you type garywong.com in your browser and get some fellow in Canada. I don’t live in Canada. Don’t get me wrong, Canada’s a nice country and all but it’s not me. Rather, I’m a guy on the wrong side of 25, living in the hippest, happening place in all the land - New York City. I was born there, raised there, and, with the exception of a brief affair with Binghamton, NY, have stayed true to my love for New York City. I am gainfully employed in the information technology department at an educational institution in the city. In my spare time, I do freelance web and technical consultatations. In addition, I also take photos - a lot of photos.

What?

I love to read - books, Sunday New York Times, you name it. I am also a huge movie buff, a television junkie, and an avid music lover. My biggest passion, however, lies in sports whether it be baseball (Mets and Red Sox), football (Giants and Patriots), basketball (Knicks), or college basketball (Big East) - the pleasure I derive from attending or watching a sporting event is unmeasurable. There are also lots of little things that I like but can’t seem to recall - oh well.

Where?

I’ve lived in New York City’s Chinatown, Brooklyn’s Gravesend, and Binghamton, NY. I currently reside in a rent-controlled one bedroom apartment in Astoria, Queens.

When?

Umm… now?

Why?

I’ve always had some sort of presence online from my first web site created for a Binghamton University engineering class to several iterations on free web servers - Geocities, Tripod, ughh… - to what you see now. Having a web site allows me to put up a lot of the pictures I take so I can share it with friends, family, and complete strangers.
