On April 8, 2008, the Mets had their home opener at Shea Stadium for the 45th and final time.
Building the new stadium necessitated the demolition of the ramp coming from the subway station. The new, temporary staircase is actually an improvement over the ramp as it doesn’t have the entryway that constricted the flow of passengers.

Not having seen the first season of Top Chef, I didn’t know much about Harold Deiterle’s performance on the show. All I’d seen of his cooking was in the Season 1 vs. Season 2 challenge, which is to say, not very much at all. This past summer, he opened up his own restaurant - though, technically, he co-owns the place - Perilla. Finally able to get a reservation, I went with a few friends for dinner last week.
