Can Tho Marathon
If you ever find yourself having a conversation with me and I mention wanting to run a marathon in southeast Asia, do me a solid and remind me about my experience running the Can Tho Heritage Marathon | @canthoheritagemarathon?
I do wanna say that this was a pretty well-run marathon from a logistical perspective, especially for such a small field for the full 42k. With that out of the way, there’s a reason they start the full at 2:30 am - it’s fucking hot out there. Even with the bulk of the race being run before sunrise, it was still a miserable experience. I wanted to run a sub-4:00 to keep my streak since 2021 going but after a few miles, I knew that wasn’t gonna happen and I had to haul ass just to gut out a sub-10:00/mile pace.
The nice thing about a small marathon, though? I was in a Grab within 15 minutes of finishing and back in my hotel less than 15 minutes later. That shower may have been the most incredible shower in my entire life to that point.
