I ran a 5K race in Flushing Meadows thinking “only the top finisher in each age group gets an award so I’ll run this and then bolt cuz it’s barely 20° out here.”
So, of course, I finished atop my age group and ended up sticking around in freezing cold for this awesome winners’ medal. Totally worth it, especially now that I have regained feeling in my fingers.
